Connection! It’s all about how you connect with the skin and your intention.
For manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), we want to maintain a connection with the skin without adding pressure. You want to place the brush on the surface of the skin without making an impression of the brush. The goal is to use the texture of the bristles to create a “stretch” stroke.
Use caution and alter treatment if you have:
Bronchitis: don’t use directly over sternum
Menstruation: can make period heavier (avoid abdomen)
Nevus: work around any raised moles
Low Blood Pressure: be careful of over-use, do shorter sessions
Hyperactive Thyroid: do not work on thyroid directly
Do not use if you have:
Active cancer (consult your medical team)
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Acute infection or inflammation
