This is the opening sequence for all face and body routines using The Lymphatic Brush by Cecily Braden.
It focuses on opening terminus, warming the surrounding tissue to “prime the pump” and encourage the free flow of fluids towards their destination.
There are several key points I want you to focus on in the video.
💦 Connect and Sweep It’s important to connect the textured bristles with the skin and sweep towards terminus.
💦 Long Sweeps with Stretch As you sweep, you want to engage the tissue just enough to create a gentle “stretch” or shift in the skin. This helps propel lymph by mimicking the natural contraction of the lymph vessels. You can’t overstretch!
💦 Avoid Short, Choppy Strokes Connect the textured bristles to the skin and maintain that connection as you sweep. Avoid the tendency to “flick” and use as you would a dry brush.
💦 Supraclavicular Triangle Notice that I’m working the ENTIRE triangular area at the base of my neck, including my shoulders and collarbone.
💦 Cervical Chain | Neck I include the ENTIRE neck area as part of the opening sequence, including sweeps from behind the neck (spine) diagonally towards terminus and directly behind and below the ear and jawline.
This is essential before continuing to your face since all fluids from the face pass through the cervical chain to terminus. It also follows the vagal nerve pathway and is EXTREMELY RELAXING and will help ease tension, lesson brain fog and anxiety!
Practice and allow yourself some freedom with the strokes to soften the tissue and create movement the entirety of your neck area.
Use caution and alter treatment if you have:
Bronchitis: don’t use directly over sternum
Menstruation: can make period heavier (avoid abdomen)
Nevus: work around any raised moles
Low Blood Pressure: be careful of over-use, do shorter sessions
Hyperactive Thyroid: do not work on thyroid directly
Do not use if you have:
Active cancer (consult your medical team)
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Acute infection or inflammation
